With an array of large state of the art CNC Horizontal Boring Mills, Standard Machine Inc. is able to remove material at a very high rate.
This 30” Pipe Repair Split Sleeve started out as (2) 26” x 47” x 58” solid steel forgings weighing #20,100 Lbs each. When they are machined to their final form each half weighs only #4,200 Lbs. There are 2 halves that make up the repair sleeve. We start out by rough machining the inner belly. We then machine the outer contour to its finished form using high feed roughing cutters and ball nose cutters that we can feed at up to 200” per minute.
In finishing the Sleeve we utilize face milling, right angle head milling, contour milling, large boring bars. slotting cutters, end mills, and large drills. The part is set up on a large indexing table so it can be rotated to complete the main face and both ends and bores with one set up.
After completion, each half is thoroughly inspected on our precision granite inspection table.
